Meet Our Caring Veterinarians

Dr. Rhonda Snyder

D.V.M. | Hospital Director

Dr. Rhonda Snyder was born and raised locally in Thurston County. At the young age of 11 years old, she was able to witness a spay surgery and from then on, knew that she wanted to become a veterinarian. She went to college at Washington State University and did 3 years of undergraduate work, after which she studied Veterinary Medicine for 4 years. Rhonda graduated, summa cum laude, in 1988. After practicing for 5 years in the Seattle area, Dr. Snyder returned home to Lacey, WA, to create Mountain View Veterinary Hospital in 1993.

Dr. Snyder has 3 children, Jake, who is a Licensed Veterinary Technician at Mountain View, Eric who is currently serving in the Navy, and her daughter Cassie who is also attending Washington State University, currently studying education and is a member of the Cougar Marching Band. Dr. Snyder’s family also consists of many pets. Her dogs are both Flat Coated Retrievers, Grimm who pretty much likes EVERYTHING, and her newest puppy, Spirit. The family pets also proudly serve as blood donors when client’s pets are in need of emergency transfusions.

When she is not at work, Rhonda also enjoys spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter and grandson, hiking, reading, cooking, and an occasional ride on a rollercoaster. When she gets the chance, Grimm and Spirit accompany her on quiet walks on the Chehalis Western trail.

Dr. Karen Hook

D.V.M.

Dr. Hook grew up in small towns in Montana and Eastern Washington. She was very active in 4-H, FBLA, hiking, camping, horseback riding and reading. She knew from a young age that she wanted to be a veterinarian because it appealed to many facets of her personality; the problem solving of medicine, the hands on skills needed for surgery and a love of spending time with people who love animals. After a lot of volunteer work in a local veterinary hospital and many other animal related volunteer jobs, Dr. Hook graduated from the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. She has worked in a number of practices in Washington and Oregon. Dr. Hook practiced for 5 years in a small animal hospital in north Seattle where she developed a love for internal medicine and soft tissue surgery. Dr Hook moved to Lacey and joined Mountain View Veterinary Hospital in 2001. She loves to quilt and is an active kayaker, she even did a 100 mile trip on the Washington coast from Neah Bay to Klaloch and survived! Her current pet family includes her cat Mischief, and her two dogs, Mina, and Max.

Dr. Diane Desselle

D.V.M.

Dr. Desselle has worked with animals most of her life. She received her BS in Zoology from Washington State University in 1993 and then graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in September 2001. She has been with Mountain View since July of 2003. When she isn’t working, she enjoys playing video games, watching movies, reading, painting ceramics and snow skiing. Travel is her passion. Her favorite places to visit include Orcas Island, WA and Dangar Gorge / New South Wales, Australia. Her current pets include her cats Popeye, Purrsephone, and Olive.

Dr. Peggy Vogt

D.V.M.

Dr. Vogt has been a member of Mountain View Veterinary Hospital since May of 2017. She originally worked here as a relief veterinarian for the hospital, but she luckily she chose to be with us permanently! Dr. Vogt brings years of knowledge with her and always does her job with a smile. She is consistently helping the other doctors with their more complex cases and routinely asks for multiple opinions so she can ensure the best possible care for our patients. In her spare time, she enjoys reading novels, playing board games, and crocheting. She has 3 wonderful dogs (Morgan, Barkley, and Nikki) as well as 3 kitties: Harry, Koda, and Idgie.

Dr. Aerin Truskey

D.V.M.

Dr. Truskey joined Mountain View Veterinary Hospital in June of 2017. She came to us directly from the veterinary program at Washington State University and has continued her passion to learn everything she can about veterinary medicine. Being the youngest of our doctor team, Dr. Truskey brings fresh perspectives and new age insight to the table. She is wonderful at remaining calm under pressure and often consults the other doctors to make sure that we have the best idea of what needs to be done for treatment. When she was younger, her mom had an interest in the veterinary field. That, coupled with her deep love for animals, made it a possibility for her in terms of a career option. In her free time, Dr. Truskey enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, and going to concerts. She is owned by two cats; Norman and Corina.
