Mountain View Veterinary Hospital

Small animal veterinary hospital serving the greater Lacey, WA communities.

Congratulations to Dr. Lorenzo, our Employee of the Month for September! As one of our newest Doctors, she has quickly become an invaluable member of our team. Her coworkers have nominated her for her exceptional dedication and capability to work under pressure. Dr. Lorenzo consistently goes above and beyond, all while still bringing smiles to her coworkers faces. Her commitment to her practice and medicine has not gone unnoticed! Thank you, Dr. Lorenzo!Dr. Lorenzo grew up in the Central Coast of California and was involved in swimming, journalism, and theatre from a young age. She graduated from Cal Poly SLO with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences. After undergrad, she began working as a technician at a local Veterinary ER clinic and realized that her passion for the field, medicine, and advocating for animals would make the perfect career. She attended Louisiana State University for Veterinary School and graduated in 2024. While in school, she also studied Veterinary Acupuncture through Chi University. In her spare time, she enjoys crochet, cross-stitch, and pottery. Her love for the outdoors and adventuring brought her to the PNW. Dr. Lorenzo currently has two dogs, George and Dixie, that fill her home with love! ... See MoreSee Less

Summer heat can be extremely dangerous for pets, potentially leading to heatstroke. To protect your furry friends, ensure they have plenty of water and shade, and avoid vigorous exercise during peak heat hours. Never leave pets in cars, and if you suspect heatstroke, contact your vet immediately. Each year, thousands of pets suffer from heatstroke, with an estimated 50% not surviving the condition. Between 1,800 and 2,000 dogs die annually from car-related heatstroke. A study from San Francisco State University found that when it's 80 degrees outside, the temperature inside a car can reach 99 degrees in just 10 minutes and 109 degrees in 20 minutes. Since dogs don't have efficient ways to cool themselves, they can succumb to heatstroke in less than 15 minutes.Stay vigilant during the hot summer months to keep your pets safe. ... See MoreSee Less

Getting a wellness exam early allows you to start a medical history for your pet, lets you get important information about health risks based on species/breed, and can help you see if anything is wrong out of the gate.-𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐕𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝: Vaccines can be life-saving for pets, especially young puppies at risk of Parvo and indoor/outdoor cats at risk of contracting FIV. Some vaccines are even mandatory in Washington State, like the Rabies vaccine. Getting these vaccines early protects your pet from unnecessary risk and suffering. -𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝: Microchips are important to your pet’s safety. When a pet is lost or found a microchip can be the deciding factor in whether or not they are able to be reunited with their owner. Make sure to update your pet’s microchip annually with any name, phone number, or address changes. -𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐝/𝐍𝐞𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝: Spay and neuter procedures are one of the greatest gifts we can give our pets. Pregnancy for pets carries complication risk, as well as placing an emotional burden on our pets. Getting your pet spayed/neutered early on can prevent a variety of future health problems and protect them from unplanned litters. *Concern for Animals has programs to help residents of Thurston, Mason, Lewis, and Grays Harbor counties with the cost of spay/neuter procedures as well as mandatory rabies vaccines.
