Keep your pets safe from backyard fungi! While store-bought mushrooms are usually safe if your pets eat them, wild fungi can be toxic and cause serious health issues, including GI upset, neurological symptoms, or even liver failure. It's been very damp lately and they are growing like...fungi. Always supervise your pets outdoors and if you suspect that your pet has ingested something potentially toxic, please call ASPCA Poison Control at (888) 426-4435 immediately.

On October 10th, we said goodbye to a very special member of our Mountain View family — our beloved Prince Wolfie.![]()
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Prince Wolfie. On October 10th, 2025, Wolfie was gently laid to rest, surrounded by his closest family and friends. Over the last few years, he faced several health challenges, including diabetes, but he met them all with his usual charm and stubborn spirit. He was deeply loved by everyone at Mountain View Veterinary Hospital, and our entire team rallied around him through every step of his care. Please enjoy this video tribute that our staff has lovingly assembled to honor his incredible life.![]()
Wolfie’s story began in 2010, when he was found as a kitten abandoned in a parking lot in Forks, WA. He and his siblings were originally named Jacob, Bella, and Edward—a nod to Twilight. His brother and sister were adopted into loving homes, while we kept Jacob. Since we already had a staff member named Jacob (and that would be confusing!), he became known as Wolf Man. Over time, his name evolved into Wolfie, and eventually, “Prince Wolfie,” after someone joked that he was “the cat formerly known as Wolf Man.” The nickname stuck—and so did his royal status.![]()
Being the largest of the three kittens, Wolfie often helped save other cats by donating blood for transfusions. But more than that, he became part of the fabric of our hospital. He took his role as honorary staff manager very seriously, making sure his meals were served on time, his nap spots were undisturbed, and that the staff delivered an appropriate number of pets and cuddles each day. His hobbies included eating, taking naps, and being loved by all.![]()
In 2021, two young kittens—Spitfire and Murder Mittens—joined the Mountain View family. Wolfie was not impressed at first. But with time, he took them under his wing, becoming a grumpy yet loving mentor. Eventually, “Uncle Wolfie” could be found curled up with them, proving that even the most dignified of princes have a soft side.![]()
The hospital will never be the same without you, buddy.
We love you and miss you so very much, Prince Wolfie. 💙#mountainviewvet #vetmed #cliniccats
